One of our favorite states for emerging music, Oregon has produced our latest feature – hip-hop artist Taylor Krom. The name of his new record is certainly appropriate – “Freshly Baked”. Taylor says “I hadn't quite found myself with music when making this album so it kind of pointed me the way I needed to go. ‘Freshly Baked’ means Raw and New, Fresh! XXQs: Taylor Krom
PensEyeView.com (PEV): How would you describe your sound and what do you feel makes you stand out over the others in your genre?
Taylor Krom (RDO): I believe my music and lyrics are unique compared to other music, with my voice and very original way of thinking.
PEV: Calling Oregon home, what kind of music where you into growing up? Was anyone your main influence?
TK: I grew up listening to all types of music with my Father and siblings. I never really had an influence I just admired every single artist with a passion like nothing I have had before!
PEV: Tell us about your first ever live performance.
TK: I am currently waiting to perform actually, I've just started receiving requests for performances so those will be soon. Very excited.
PEV: What was it like for you when you first started out and making the transition to professional musician?
TK: It was totally different and I was overwhelmed with excitement when I first got into a studio, but I quickly became very comfortable and felt at home making music within a few days!
PEV: Do you remember the first time you thought to yourself – “I am really onto something!”?
TK: Yes. It was when I wrote my first song way before I had ever been to a studio and I had shown it to other friends that were into music and they really enjoyed it! That’s when I figured out I could make something of myself in the Music Industry!
PEV: What can fans expect from a live Taylor Krom show?
TK: High energy and Lots of fun, be ready to sweat!

PEV: What is the first thing that comes to mind when you step on stage?
TK: I will be able to answer that when I step on stage
PEV: What was the underlining inspiration for your music? Where do get your best ideas for songs?
TK: Literally my emotions, I've been through a lot emotionally and that's where all my inspiration comes from. Every song I make I want people to not only understand it but FEEL it as well.
PEV: Tell us about your latest project, “Freshly Baked”. What is the story behind the name and feeling behind this album?

PEV: Describe the kind of mindset you have to be in to record a song?
TK: I like to be in a calm state of mind and all I want to hear is the beat playing so I can fall into the sounds. The better I hear the music and not people talking the more I'll connect emotionally with the music and really be able to put a lot of energy into the song that is being made.
PEV: What’s one thing we’d be surprised to hear about Taylor Krom?
TK: I played football and baseball for about 14-15 years of my life, I was a huge sports kid before I fell in love with music.
PEV: Was there a certain point in your life when you knew you wanted music to be a large part of your life, if not the biggest part?
TK: About 2-3 years ago I realized I wanted to take it all the way with being a great inspiring Hip Hop Artist

PEV: What one word best describes Taylor Krom?
TK: Driven.
PEV: How is life on the road for you in the music world? Best and worst parts?
TK: I’m away from my family a lot which sucks but its paying off and I have never been happier doing anything! I absolutely love how the industry works!
PEV: Is there one area you wish you could travel around and play that you have not yet?
TK: The entire world!
PEV: How have all your friends and family reacted to your career? What’s it like when you get to play at your hometown?
TK: Definitely receive A LOT of attention that I've never had before, everybody says its what I’m meant to do.
PEV: What can we find you doing in your spare time, aside from playing/writing music?
TK: Working and making more money, or just relaxing enjoying time with my closest family members.
PEV: Is there an up and coming band or artist you think we should all be looking out for now?
TK: ME!
PEV: If you weren’t playing music now what do you think you would be doing as your career?
TK: I would be finding another way into the music industry! Or going to college to be an X-ray Tech.
PEV: So, what is next for Taylor Krom?
TK: Taking over the world.
