Worth Our While

PEV is real happy to introduce Worth Our While – a local band who is growing up right in our backyard, playing the scene that PEV visits every week. The boys out of Towson (Jonathan Brennan - Vocals/Guitar, Chandler Pierce – Guitar, Tim Wilcox – Bass, Mike Demarco – Drums) are one of the most promising pop-punk squads we’ve seen in these parts, and now they’ve released their debut EP, “The Past is the Past”.

The collection is an excellent example of what’s to come from this band – real big things. Want to learn more? There’s a lot to read below, so pick up “The Past is the Past” and keep going for the answers to the XXQ’s.

XXQs: Worth Our While - Jonny Brennan

PEV: What kind of music were the members of the band into growing up? Do you remember your first concert?

Jonny Brennan (JB): To be honest, we're still growing up. We were all really into our local scene. Most of us in the band supported local bands. A huge local hero to the four of us was All Time Low. And yes, of course we remember our first concert!

PEV: Tell us your take on the music scene is like in your hometown and what was it like trying to break into it?

JB: The music scene in Maryland is unreal. There are so many talented artists and musicians in our area. We are truly blessed to be able to share the stage with the artists around here. Breaking into this music scene was intimidating at first, but we've successfully stood our ground.

PEV: With that, what can fans expect from a live Worth Our While show?

JB: This is going to sound cliché, but they can expect a good time. We always do our best to interact with the crowd!

PEV: What is the first thing that comes to mind when you step on stage?

JB: Are my pants falling down?

PEV: Have anyone in the band worked with other bands before joing Worth Our While? And how is that different then those other works?

JB: Actually, Tim, Chandler, and myself have only been in Worth Our While (well besides the fake band I was in when I was like 10. Mike is the only one in our band who has made other commitments. He was originally in another local band we are close friends with, they dropped him, so we picked him up.

PEV: What was the underlining inspiration for your music? Where do get your best ideas for songs?

JB: I write songs about myself and hope that people can relate to my experiences. I try my best not to write songs about "dropping it low" or "getting crunk".

PEV: Thinking back to when you first started out do you ever look back at your career and think about your earlier days and how you’ve arrived where you are today?

JB: Of course! We have come so far since two years ago when the only shows we could get were on Sunday nights. We are so blessed to come as far as we have in such a short time period.

PEV: What’s one thing we’d be surprised to hear about the members of Worth Our While?

JB: Hmm, that's a tough one. We don't really keep secrets about ourselves. We're all really open!

PEV: Was there a certain point in your life when you knew that music was going to be a career for you?

JB: Yes. I was 10 years old. I was attending my first concert. I remember the night perfectly my favorite local band, VooDoo Blue, was playing at a venue down the street from my house. The concert blew my mind. Right then and there I knew I needed to follow a similar dream.

PEV: Tell us about what you are currently working on?

JB: We are in the process of putting out all new sorts of media. Music, Pictures, Videos! We've got it all… It's all just solidifying our sound and image!

PEV: Is there one area you wish you could travel around and play that you have not yet?

JB: We want to explore the whole nation. We don't have one particular area to check out.

PEV: How have all your friends and family reacted to your career? What’s it like when you get to play at your hometown?

JB: We're supported by everyone around us. It's the best feeling ever!

PEV: What can we find each of you doing in your spare time, aside from playing/writing music?

JB: Watching Jersey Shore, duh.

PEV: Name one present and past artist or group that would be your dream collaboration? Why?

JB: Ke$sha probably has some interesting ideas. But besides that...

PEV:  Is there an up and coming band or artist you think we should all be looking out for now?

JB: Us!

PEV: If you weren’t playing music now what do you think each of you would be your career?

JB: Flippin' patties at McDonalds.

PEV: So, what is next for Worth Our While?

JB: New music, pictures, shows, and updates! Everything.
